Hi there! I'm Sean. I'm a PhD candidate at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where I am advised by Dan Ingram, Ben Halpern, Kelsey Jack, and Bruce Kendall. My interests span both ecology and conservation. After graduating from Middlebury College with a degree in biology, I joined the Peace Corps and taught biology in a rural village in Cameroon in Central Africa. My students, colleagues, and neighbors hunted wildlife for food and income. These circumstances taught me that wildlife conservation is tied to human livelihoods and food systems. Following the Peace Corps, I obtained a Master's in Conservation Science from Imperial College London. Today, I research how human food production and food security affect wildlife populations, and the social and ecological consequences of wildlife loss and recovery.
